National Nutrition Month
March is National Nutrition Month, therefore resources have been identified that you can use to develop a challenge for your department/campus which focus on nutrition. Although all of the resources listed in the Health and Well-being Challenge Resource of this newsletter contain valuable information, we will highlight one in this newsletter, namely the Thrive Well-Being Toolkit. This resource is intended to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices, and the theme is “Savor the Flavor.” The kit contains a list of challenges from which you can select one for the month, or you can choose to do one each week! An example of one of the challenges is “Flavor Geography.” This challenge encourages employees to identify a favorite herb/spice, learn where it is grown, and pin the location on a world map including informational tips about the herb/spice. This activity is a great way to identify different spices/herbs that can be used to enhance the flavor of our foods without adding extra fat or calories! The toolkit also contains recipes, flyers, and an e-mail template to increase engagement of your department.
